Free Online Hash Generator
Generate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, and SHA-512 hashes from text or files. Runs entirely in your browser.
What is a Hash Function?
A cryptographic hash function takes an input (or "message") and returns a fixed-size string of bytes. The output (the "hash" or "digest") is deterministic - the same input always produces the same output - but it's computationally infeasible to reverse the process or find two inputs that produce the same hash.
Supported Algorithms
MD5 (128-bit)
Fast but deprecated for security. Still used for checksums and non-security purposes.
SHA-1 (160-bit)
Deprecated for certificates but still used in Git and legacy systems.
SHA-256 (256-bit)
Industry standard. Used in TLS, Bitcoin, and digital signatures.
SHA-512 (512-bit)
Maximum security. Faster than SHA-256 on 64-bit processors.
